The Lotus Collection
I have been fascinated by the lotus flower ever since living in South East Asia, more than a decade ago. It felt like coming home, finding my roots again. My mother was born in Saigon during the French colonial period and I grew up surrounded by stories and imagery related to Vietnam.
No mud, no lotus.
“There is the mud, and there is the lotus that grows out of the mud. We need the mud in order to make the lotus.” – Thich Nhat Hanh
This quote by the famous Vietnamese buddhist teacher Thich Hat Hanh has been one I often return to, especially in periods of doubt and uncertainty. My wish is that my paintings bring a sense of solace and acceptation to those who come across them.
